Age on another date
How the age is worked out

The calculator counts the whole years between the date of birth and today, then the whole months that remain, then the days left over. A person becomes a year older on the birthday itself, so someone born on 7 October 2000 is 25 on 6 October 2026 and 26 on the following day.

Months are counted from the day of birth to the same day in a later month. Where a later month is shorter and does not have that day, the last day of that month is used. The totals in months, weeks and days show the same period in a single unit, counting completed months and weeks only.

How is age counted for someone born on 29 February?

In a leap year the birthday falls on 29 February. In other years this calculator counts the birthday on 28 February, so the age goes up on that day. Some legal systems use 1 March instead, so check the rule that applies where the exact day matters, for example when someone reaches 18.

Can I work out an age on a different date?

Yes. Open "Age on another date" under the result and choose the date. This shows how old someone will be on a future date, such as the start of a school year, or how old they were on a date in the past.

Is the date of birth stored?

No. The calculation runs in your browser. The date of birth is not sent to us and is not saved on your device.
