Prayer times widget

Asr time

How to add it to your website

Choose your city and the Asr time your community follows, then copy the code and paste it into your website where the times should appear. Most website builders (WordPress, Wix, Squarespace, Google Sites) have a block called "Custom HTML", "Embed" or "Code" for this. The widget fits any space from 250 to 400 pixels wide and is 360 pixels tall.

The code has two parts: a frame that shows the times, and a plain link under it, "Prayer times by Trending Sheet", to the city's full timetable for the week and the month. Please keep the link, so that visitors can find the full timetable and the method behind the times.

What the widget shows and how the times are calculated

The widget shows the city's name and today's Islamic date, the next prayer with a countdown, and today's Fajr, sunrise, Dhuhr, Asr, Maghrib and Isha, with the times already passed shown in grey. It updates every 30 seconds and moves to the next day at midnight in the city.

The times are the same as on the city's own page on this site, calculated from the position of the sun with the method customary in the city's country (for example the Moonsighting Committee method in the United Kingdom, Diyanet's method in Turkey and the Karachi method in Pakistan). The method is named at the foot of the widget. Times are in the city's local time, whatever the time zone of the person viewing it.

What it does not do

It shows prayer start times only, not a mosque's congregation (iqamah or jamaat) times or Jumu'ah times. Where your mosque publishes its own timetable, and it differs, the mosque's timetable is the one to follow. It covers the cities listed above only; for a town not listed, the nearest city's times can differ by a few minutes. It is in English only, and it needs JavaScript in the visitor's browser.

It does not collect anything about your visitors. All cities' prayer times.

Does the widget show adverts or use cookies?

No. The page inside the widget carries no adverts, no analytics and no cookies, and it runs no script on your own page. The only thing it adds to your page is the frame and a link to the city's full timetable.

Does the widget show congregation (iqamah) times?

No. It shows the time each prayer begins, calculated for the city. It cannot show a mosque's own congregation times, which each mosque sets for itself.

Do I need to update it?

No. The times are worked out each time the widget is opened, so they change by themselves every day, including when the clocks change.
